Thread Trend begin with Ransomware (Filefix case)

Scareware, which scans your computer, finds nothing, then cons you into sending in money to fix a fake vulnerability, has been done before. However, the latest version of Vundo does this and adds a twist. Vundo is "ransomware." It uses polymorphism to mask the executable every time it runs. The software searches your computer looking for PDFs, JPGs and Microsoft Word documents. Once identified, the software encrypts them, then prompts the user to purchase FileFix Pro 2009 to decrypt the files, all for a mere $40.

Check Out Your COMPUTER, NEW THREAD RANSOM-F is Spreading

I got 2 virus warning in my box lately, but the most interesting one is RANSOM-F. This is new virus reported on March 25, 2009. It’s name varied :

  • Trojan.Xrupter [Symantec]
  • Trojan-Ransom.Win32.Fixer.a [Kaspersky Lab
  • Trojan:Win32/Fakecorr [Microsoft]

Behaviour

You got this virus if :

When you open your documents (almost all document type), you got a message telling that your document is corrupt. If you click Repair File, the virus then download some File calls Filefix Professional 2009.

New Backdoor Virus, Backdoor Syzoor

If your antivirus suddenly refuse to run, beware, maybe you got Backdoor Syzoor in your system.

This Backdoor virus is not easily described by it’s name, because the file they created random file name, but if you found vgbj33obieu.sys (84,992 bytes), surely you got backdoor syzoor in your system.
